Heavenly Hats and Frocks to Match

Today was Melbourne Cup, the most significant horse race in Australia, a public holiday in Victoria and a day of much merriment and very little work in Sydney. I was actually working today and didn't really get to enjoy any festivities. I actually don't mind that much as I'm not a big fan of the horse races. I am, however, a big fan of hats and Melbourne Cup is definitely the head wear highlight of the year. Fascinators are still all the rage at the moment, but I much, much prefer hats. The best dressed on the field are always those ladies (and dapper gentlemen) who are attentive to the details and pull together a complete ensemble that will be guaranteed to turn heads. Hear are a few of the social snaps that caught my eye.

The last two photos are courtesy of The Age and the rest are from the News website.
